Hydroxychloroquine sulfate drugs in children should have 25 mg base depending on body weight. It is managed in three days.
- The first dose should be 10 mg per base kg (not more than one dose of 620 mg base).
- The second dose should be 5 mg base per kg 6 hours after the first dose.
- The third dose should be 5 mg base per kg 18 hours after the second dose.
- The fourth dose should be 5 mg base per kg 24 hours after the third dose.

In rheumatoid arthritis
The initial dose of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablet for adults is from 400 mg to 600 mg daily. The dose is taken with a meal or a glass of milk. The maintenance dose of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablet is from 200mg to 400 mg daily.
Use of this drug is contraindicated within the presence of retinal or sight view changes because of any four aminoquinoline compound. Patients with known hypersensitivity to 4 aminoquinoline compounds avoid taking hydroxychloroquine sulfate drugs.
Hydroxychloroquine sulfate drugs have many health problems in long-term or high doses and this is not a good thing for patients at all. Taking these medicines without taking food causes stomach cramps, so these medicines should be taken with food.
Common Side Effects
The most common side effects of hydroxychloroquine sulfate drugs are abnormal eye pigmentation, vision problems, and involuntary eyeball movement.

Rare Side Effects
In very rare cases, patients have anemia and blood disorder. By taking regular or high amounts of hydroxychloroquine medicines causes, lever problems or loss of appetite. In some cases, patients get muscle paralyzes or muscle weakness due to overdose or side effects of these drugs.

Administrated with caution in patients having G-6- PD ( glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency and hepatic disease or alcoholism or in conjunction with known hepatotoxic drugs. Not effective against antimalarial resistant strains of p.falciparum patients. Use of anti-inflammatory drug salt in patients with skin disorder could precipitate a severe attack of skin disorder. Usage in pregnancy avoided.
